First Aid Kit – Emmylou

I have totally fallen for these brilliant voices. The Swedish sisters in “First Aid Kit” Music Johanna and Klara have voices with really similar vocal harmonies, BUT the tiny little difference makes this duo MAGICAL!

Please watch this musicvideo by First Aid Kit performing their new single “Emmylou” This is the second single taken from the new First Aid Kit album, The Lion’s Roar, available on Wichita Recordings.

Grand Finale – Northern Lights

The night is getting lighter and soon the Midnight Sun will be shining – thus making it impossible to see the spectacular phenomenon – Northern Lights (Aurora borealis). But still the night is dark enough to se the occasional Northern Lights. Although I am too busy at the moment to spend hours out in the cold gazing for this beautiful light show – yesterday I just had to.

I only shoot photos in RAW-mode. Hence it takes a lot of hard, manual labor to “develop” them into JPEGs suitable for showing here. And there it is again time… Well, I’ve processed one with the planet Venus shining brightly through the vail of the Northern Lights above the Ofoten Fjord.

April Fools’ Day ;o)

Lovely! I’ve been tried fooled today (sorry, better luck next year) and I’ve managed to execute a few well-played pranks – for wich I have been thoroughly amused. So next year I am expecting revenge ;o)

Of course my blog has also been a scene for a small prank – namely the previous post “I’ve rounded 100,000 visitors to my blog!!!”. It would have been quite nice to have had more than 100,000 visitors – but my real counter shows just well over 15,000 ;o) As the observant reader might have noticed – the false “hit counter” has been stuck all day on 100,001 visitors…

I’ve rounded 100,000 visitors to my blog!!!

I don’t know what has happened – but in one and a half years – I’ve rounded 100,000 visitors!!! Just take a look at my counter here on the right… It’s UNBELIEVABLE!!! Thank you all for making this blog such a HUGE success!!!

Very Early Pastel Sky

The morning sky at 6 am. Since we’re into the insanely stupid “Daylight Saving Time” the normal time this morning would be 5 am.

The season of the midnight sun is approaching Narvik here in the arctic…

How simple ideas lead to scientific discoveries

Adam Savage walks through two spectacular examples of profound scientific discoveries that came from simple, creative methods anyone could have followed — Eratosthenes’ calculation of the Earth’s circumference around 200 BC and Hippolyte Fizeau’s measurement of the speed of light in 1849. (Launching a series on Inventions that Shaped History)

“How Simple Ideas Lead to Scientific Discoveries” was animated by the TED-Ed Animation Team (Jeremiah Dickey, Biljana Labovic, Celeste Lai, Kari Mulholland and Franz

Knights and Magic by Richard Birdsall

A fantastic piece of music written by the very, very young composer Richard Birdsall and winner of the Gary Garriton Contest. The conductor becomes airborne at the end! A brilliant piece of music well worth seeing!
