My mother’s little friends

My mother sees to the little airborne friends during the winter. They are having an absolute fiest on all the delicious food she is serving them.

Although lighting conditions were poor today, I managed to get a couple of shots of a Great Tit (Norwegian: Kjøttmeis, latin: Parus major)

The City and The Mountains instead

I went out in a cold (freezing) weather last night to take a few Northern Lights shots, but unbelievably messed up the focus. So I ended up with a panorama of the City Narvik and the surrounding mountains instead. The mountains are basked in the light from the full moon. Not any other full moon, but the very full moon the tribes of the North-American native people (indians) designated Wolf Moon! Please click on the photo, to see the finer details!

First Panorama of 2012!

Enjoy this first panorama of the year 2012 taken today of the Ofoten fjord! Click on the photo to see THE REALLY BIG PICTURE! Warning it is really big, and takes time to load. You can explore the PHOTOSYNTH by clicking here..!

Real Heavy Winter Storm

I flew from Denmark to Northern-Norway on Thursday. That was just as a heavy low pressure weather system moved in from the West. And it hit the coastline of the two nations with extreme force. All the way up in the jet-stream where we flew at 32,000 feet, the turbulence could be felt all the way to the North. My friend Ole spent some time by the West Coast of Denmark in his cottage. He reported a real heavy shaking in the cottage as the storm gusts hit. But no harm was done. Ole graciously lent me this picture from the storm of 9th of December.

1 year minus 2 days

In two days time this blog has been up and running for one year. In this time I’ve had some 8,850 visits to my blog. Not bad for a little “miniblogger”.

While waiting for the 1 Year Anniversary – you’ll might enjoy this photo taken today. It is a High Dynamic Range Photo where I tried emphasizing the very special light on the fjord and in the autumn coloured mountain in the background. Enjoy!

Moon is rising – Sun is setting on Narvik

Moon is rising – Sun is setting on Narvik. Our beloved airport Narvik Airport (NVK) is lit in the dusk. In the Foreground you can see the 180,002 ton bulk carrier “Navios Happiness” of Malta being loaded with iron ore by pier 5 – destined for El Dikheila.
